Problem
Solution
The problem is to create a user-friendly live podcast application that enhances real-time engagement for listeners. This platform should offer seamless navigation to discover and join live sessions, integrate interactive features like live chat and audience polls, and support easy sharing on social media. Accessibility options such as real-time transcription will ensure inclusivity, fostering a dynamic community around live
podcast content.
Build a unique interface that engages the user, something that sets our product apart from the competition.
Design process
Research
During the ideation phase of the project, I conducted user interviews to build new personas and to inform the design. I prepared an interview script with 10 open-ended questions, focusing on our target audiences’ values, motivations, and daily routines. In 4 days, I recruited and interviewed 4 users in person.
Participants often stated that they used Youtube as their primary source of Podcast media. They often stated that visual stimulation and ease of use was the main factor for choosing Youtube.
Insight
Overall I gained some helpful insights, the group interviewed was around 19-28 years old. I was surprised at the amount participants preferred to consume podcasts over Youtube. It gave me the idea to potentially build in a visual aspect of being able to watch clipsor segments of a show while also listening. As well as the importance of interaction wanted to create a more engaging platform.
Customer Journey Map
Wireframes and Sketches
I began the design process with low-fidelity sketches and wireframes to accelerate decision-making through visualization without losing time. My sketches were based on the initial user interviews, the business goal, and the heuristic evaluation. They each pointed to the fact that there were too many distractions in the flow. I came back to the sketches and mid fidelity wireframes throughout the design process so that I didn’t lose sight of my goals.

Testing
Usability Testing
Distributed the prototype in a controlled environment with three individuals.I asked them to perform certain tasks, as well as give them the free reign toexplore how they would naturally.
Assigned Tasks
Search for a podcast.
Preview a podcast.
Subscribe to notifications for new episodes
.Sign up
.Select a custom genre
.Objectives
Validate a comfortable user flow
Are videos and previews enough to migrate someone from moving over to Cue from YouTube.
Identify pain points of design and hindrances in usability.
Determine accessible features like transcript are helpful
Findings
Some navigation touch boxes we’re to small so it led to difficulties navigating pagesLayout was easy to use and presented a simple way to traverse the application The search page could have a little adjustment with button placement
