Bringing the Olympics
to Arizona
Landing page
Project Overview
Designing a captivating landing page for the Arizona Summer Olympics requires conveying excitement, diversity, and cultural richness while engaging users in a competitive online landscape. It should blend informative content, dynamic visuals, and interactive elements to showcase Arizona's charm as a host, provide event details and ticketing info, and encourage community involvement to maximize attendee turnout and foster unity and celebration.

Solution
Just imagine this, the 2024 Summer Olympics are coming to Phoenix. Our goal is to create a navigational experience that is intuitive and approachable for visitors and locals alike. This involves designing a user-friendly interface that provides seamless access to essential information about event schedules, venues, transportation options, and local attractions. Additionally, the platform should facilitate easy collaboration between local partners and the Olympic committee to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information. By addressing these challenges, we aim to enhance the overall user experience, promote engagement with Olympic events, and amplify the city's profile as a welcoming host for the global sporting event.
Create a one-page website to show the Olympic Committee that Phoenix is prepared to promote the Summer Olympics content. Include the map of events, sports, athletes and latest news, the date when the Olympics start, and where viewers can watch. While including a landing page to generate email leads.
Design process
Research
During the research phase of this project I wanted to make sure i highlighted the best parts of our city as well as validating the venue, by making sure to use Phoenix's infrastructure as a selling point as well making accommodations for the weather and how other previous hosts dealt with the weather.
Phoenix and the surrounding Arizona area would be a great host city. The biggest concern from the Olympic village when choosing a host country and city is the infrastructure already built. Phoenix has a number of suitable arenas areas and locations to accommodate the games. Along with these other notable reasons
Affordable and substantial public transport (valley metro rail)
$2 from airport to downtown and
$4 all day pass41 stations valley wide
Over 6 big facilities State Farm Stadium, ASU Sun devils stadium, etc
Although the heat may be a problem plenty of indoor facilities and accommodations can be made, the same that we’re made for when Russia hosted.
User Flow
After conducting thorough research, I structured the website layout to emulate the feel of previous Olympic Games. The focus was on prioritizing relevant information upfront, creating a streamlined and intuitive navigation experience. This approach resulted in a concise yet comprehensive information structure, aimed at maximizing user utility and satisfaction.
Wireframes and Sketches
After creating my user flow I laid out my page that best fits the design, for me breaking up a page into sections during wireframing provides clarity, organization, and focus. It helps define different parts of the interface, making it easier to manage and iterate. Sections establish hierarchy, guide user attention, and promote consistency across screens, enhancing overall communication and decision-making in the design process.
